1. Fried Jalapeno Poppers
Who doesn’t love a jalapeno popper? First, here are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 25 jalapenos, cut in half and seeded
- 11 oz cream cheese
- 2 cups of shredded pepper jack cheese
- 1 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups of panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 tsp of salt
Blanch the jalapenos, then combine the cream cheese, pepper jack, oregano, and chili powder in a bowl. Spoon the cheese mixture into the blanched jalapeno halves and set aside.
Combine the egg and milk in one bowl; the flour, and salt in another bowl, and put the bread crumbs in a third bowl. Dip each jalapeno into the egg-milk mixture, then the flour-salt mixture, then let sit for 10 minutes. Dip into the egg-milk mixture again, then cover in bread crumbs.
Put the poppers in the fridge to dry out for 40 minutes. Once dried, fry in 3 inches of vegetable oil and eat.
2. Simple Stuffed Peppers
If you want to keep it simple, this recipe only has 3 ingredients and takes less than 10 minutes to put together. All you need is:
- 10 mini peppers, halved and seeded
- 1/2 cup of cream cheese
- Bagel seasoning
Literally, all you need to do to enjoy this recipe is evenly fill the pepper halves with cream cheese. Generously sprinkle the bagel seasoning on top and you’re ready to eat.
3. Baked Stuffed Hot Peppers
Simple stuffed peppers are great, but nothing beats the oven when it comes to creating that warm and melty texture. This recipe comes courtesy of Pesto For Pennies. The ingredients are as follows:
- 10 hot peppers
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp chipotle powder
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 egg
- 3/4 Panko bread crumbs
- Olive oil to drizzle
Preheat your oven to 350° to start. While the oven is heating, cut a long triangular hole into the peppers, then remove the seeds and membrane. Combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, spices, and lime juice in a food processor and mix well.
Fill the peppers up with the cheese mixture, then combine the egg and bread crumbs in a bowl. Mix them well and spoon the mixture over the peppers and press down so that it sticks. Place the peppers on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
