Saget was born into a Jewish family in Philadelphia on May 17, 1956. Benjamin (1917-2007) was his father, an executive in a supermarket, as his mother, Rosalyn “Dolly” (1925-2014), was an administrator at a hospital. Before moving back to Philadelphia and finishing Abington Senior High School in 1975, Saget lived in the Encino district in Los Angeles.

The actor wanted to be an ophthalmologist at first. However, his high school Honors English teacher, Elaine Zimmerman, spotted his talents as an artist and advised him to pursue the field of filmmaking.

After his appearance on CBS’ The Morning Show in the early part of 1987, Saget became Danny Tanner in Full House, a massive success with audiences of all ages and part of the Nielsen Top 30 with season three. Saget hosted the show America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1989 and continued until 1997.

He was a host on AFV and Full House at the same time in the 1990s before getting back on AFV for an hour-long special celebrating the network’s birthday, featuring a co-host with Tom Bergeron. The 1996 ABC TV film For Hope got directed by him and took inspiration from the story of Gay Saget and his sister, who passed away three years before her death due to the disease scleroderma.

In 2014, he launched his first book Dirty Daddy; the book was about his comical influencers, career, and life and death scenarios. On January 9, 2022, Bob Saget died at the age of 65 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Orlando in Florida, United States. Before then, he stayed at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando following the show of a stand-up event in Jacksonville.

The place he died was in his room at around 4:00 pm and discovered by staff. The police in the area couldn’t locate any evidence of immediate involvement and could not find any substance in his room.
